Course

School Characteristics

Our school is located in Yung Shue Wan, Lamma Island, surrounded by flowers, trees and vast outdoor spaces. Children are in touch with nature and participate in outdoor activities in their daily learning. Students come from different countries around the world, get along well on a multicultural campus, enjoy a joyful group life, learn to respect the Lord and love people, care about the community and appreciate and cherish the beautiful things God has created for us.

Curriculum planning

The school designs the curriculum according to the " Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide " from the Education Bureau, allowing young children to develop spiritual, ethical, intellectual, physical, social and aesthetic qualities through games and personal experience. Our school uses Chinese as the daily language. In recent years, it has devoted itself to implementing nature education and religious integration courses.

Learning / Teaching Approach and Activities

We will make good use of the schools surrounding environmental resources when teaching our students through the Environmental Education lessons. We aim to teach appreciation for God’s gift of nature. We would like to immerse the students in nature by them using their 5 senses to the full. We want to encourage their sense of discovery as well as other skills to help nurture a love for nature and the world around us.

Based on the five core values of Catholic schools and the "Guide to Kindergarten Education Curriculum" (2017) as the curriculum foundation, the school arranges curriculum goals in line with the development of the school, and arranges a themed comprehensive curriculum in line with the six major learning areas and diversified activities. Children learn from games, through music and physical activities, self-selected corners, learning activities and rest time, so that children can gain different learning experiences.

The English and Mandarin curriculum is designed by native speaking teachers, taking into account the different stages of child development and progressively integrating learning activities. This creates a relaxed, natural and authentic environment where learning and using English/Mandarin is spontaneous. A non-Chinese language learning group is set up to allow non-Chinese speaking children to learn Chinese in an interesting way.
